Reason for starting this blog: Because in 5 months, I'll be moving to Miami for the summer. At the beginning of those 5 months, I'm asking people to be supporting me with prayer and finances. During those 5 months, Lots of legistics will fall into place and I want to be able to notify those who care to know where I'm living, how I'm going to conduct my research, and how many times I speak poor Spanish.
The Title: is a Dr. Suess book that was one of my favorites/ an encouraging philosophy that's been enstilled in my mind from a Christian perspective.
"Not a result of works, so that no man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we may walk in them." - Eph. 2:9-10 It excites me to think about the endless places God can/will put me to further his kingdom.
As of Right Now: I'm going to Miami, FL. I'll be spending 12 weeks there and will be living somewhere in the heart of Miami (aka- the poorest part). I'll be doing a thing called Asset Based Community Development with a woman who has had great experience in development work. I'll be working with her to create a framework for Asset Mapping that the local organizations will use to research their communities best features. They'll then stick them onto a computer database that will be available to the community to use.
and as of right now, that's the most I know. Once I get more details and start getting more concerned, I'll post the info and prayer requests.
